Anti-what? What is an antioxidant?

It is the secret to keeping young and healthy. Just like a banana oxidizes and turns brown if you leave out too long - so does your body after a certain period. This is the reality of life, the reality of aging - but you can slow it down by understanding the properties of the antioxidant and using it in your life.

There are many things out there that contribute to aging and make it faster - pollution, microwaves, cell phones, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol - basically everything we know we should avoid. These things contribute oxidizing particles called free radicals - molecules that run around and have a party in your body, displacing other molecules from their places. This causes damage, and can even cause cancer if it damages DNA molecules (mutations will begin to reproduce).

But an antioxidant, such as that found in fruits and vegetables, can neutralize a portion of these free radicals. There are many different types, and that is why you must consume as many different types of fruits and veggies in your diet.

So - keep the antioxidant intake high, cut out the smokes and you will be in great shape.
