Antioxidants are special compounds that protect against cellular damage caused by free radicals. Examples are vitamin E, vitamin C and beta carotene.
Studies are showing that antioxidants can indeed slow the process of aging. Many cosmetic companies are now implementing them into the anti aging products. Nutritional supplements are also a way to get antioxidants; however, it's important to see if the antioxidants are in their purest and most effective form. Other people are believes in oxygen therapy and step into hyperbaric chambers in order to help the body absorb oxygen.
However, one simple way of getting antioxidants is by eating fresh or dried organic fruit. Many people are willing to try out the new fad in getting health benefits through one way or another, but it is quite possible to get your antioxidants through fruits and vegetables. However, just make sure your fruit and vegetables are fresh and not cooked. According to mdsupport.org, prunes are highest in antioxidants out of the fruit and kale is the highest in antioxidants out of the vegetables.
Kale has nearly double the amount of antioxidants in comparison to prunes.
